What comes into the minds of many at the mention of financial freedom is perhaps the ability to buy anything you want at the time you feel like buying it because you have more money than you probably need at that moment. That is wrong!

Wrong because of more than one reason. One, there can never be more money in your possession than you need. In fact the more money you have the more responsibilities you get your way. Consider the very rich people around you, they are the people who are looked at whenever there is a fundraiser.

And if they offer little donation then what they have given in good faith may not be viewed from a very favorable lens.

Everyone demands a share of your cash when you have a lot of it. You will be called upon to support charities while politicians will need your money for their campaigns. You have a lot of money, you need class. You have to be identified with a certain top cream of the society. So what do you do? You have to throw your money where the rest of the members of that elite are throwing theirs. 

Two, being able to buy anything is not enough, but being able to derive meaning in what you buy is. What do you buy with your money? Why do you buy what you buy? Do you buy because someone else has bought the same thing or because you really need it?

How you respond to these questions will determine whether or not you are free. Of course I will not be there to listen to what your response is but you definitely will have one. And that answer will sure give you a head start.

Slavery inside financial abundance

Let us begin with when you actually have the money. How you use the lots of money you have may make you free, but on the flipside; it may make you a serious slave. This is how:
  • You go for an expensive item because the other rich folks who belong to your class are owning the same. It means you do not have the independence of conscience to decide for yourself what you really want. So you find yourself doing what is not exactly your choice of a thing. Perhaps I may just have an advice for you: quit the group think!
  • Then, a lot of money, a lot of responsibilities, little free time, need to protect the money. I am not saying that having a lot of wealth is bad. No, it is really good if you decide to make it improve your life. You may realize that you spend much of your effort working on how to protect it. So this effort eats into you. You forget about your own health. Wake up!
  • If you find yourself eating unhealthy diet because your money encourages you to do that, you are a slave of your money. If you work all the time to make wealth and have no time for exercises to boost your vigor then you are a sort of slave: a voluntary slave. A slave of your own lifestyle!


Gaining financial freedom

You might have noticed, or perhaps you are yet to notice, that if you take too much sugary foods and fat in your diet because you can afford it, you grow fat. Chances are that the muscles around your belly will be replaced with a mass of fat and you slowly or speedily develop some pot. Then you become less and less active.

Overweight, you are a delicate soul. You are vulnerable to even some minor infections. Let me give you a very trivial case scenario: if you slip, you may easily fall because you are less stable. And because your body is not exercised enough to have a protective muscle tissue, you will get hurt. Unless you seek medical attention immediately, you may just find yourself bed ridden for some time.
Two problems: you use money to get the medical attention and at the same time you are not productive because you cannot work while on bed, when you are sick. These are two dimensions of financial loss.

Look at the other side of it. If you were healthy, you could be stable and strong. A minor slipping, say, on the stairwell will not inflict any injury for you. Instead you will just rise and proceed with your business. You save on the medical expenditure while at the same time you continue with your productive work.

Another case involves your vulnerability to chronic disorders such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, just to mention a few. If you are suffering from any of these because you are overweight then I do not have to mention how expensive your life gets to be. You are constantly on pills, you work with life savers. The doctor becomes your best friend and hospital your second home. Trust me, it is not an easy position.

All of us cannot be the same. There are those of us who are already victims of the circumstances presented in this piece. Well that’s life. But I’m here with an alternative, an amazing path to real financial freedom. This is for the rich and the less wealthy folks. It is an option virtually for all: accumulating money easily through promoting good health.
